Dubai: For modern Indian cuisine, head to Punjab Grill
Good Indian food is not hard to come by in Dubai — from two Michelin-starred gastronomic journeys to traditional, low-key curry spots, both are available aplenty. Punjab Grill, however, sits comfortably between these two disparate concepts. Located within Anantara Downtown, the restaurant immediately made us feel welcome and at home while still offering an elevated environment — reminiscent of some of my favourite London curry houses, where my family would go for special occasions or when my dad wanted to treat me and my siblings if my mum was out of town. The delightful waiter recommended we opt for their tasting menu, which features a series of dishes celebrating the colourful cuisines of India's vast and varied regions, each interpreted through Punjab Grill's modern lens. We began our seven-course gastronomic journey with a light amuse bouche, consisting of a cheese kulcha with chili, walnut, and dates. The meal quickly progressed to appetisers, including a decadent stuffed aloo, chili and peanut thecha and meaty dakshin shrimps served with fried idli and curry leaf podi. After this flavourful start, we moved on to the larger dishes, with highlights including lemongrass and chili tikka kebabs, raunakeen lamb seekhan, and jimikand ka seekh — each dish brighter in spices, citrus, and overall character than the last. Following this parade of meaty dishes, we enjoyed saucier curries. The paneer roulade, served on a bed of creamy butter sauce, was my favourite dish of the evening (though it wasn't an easy choice to make). This was paired with makhani saag, parsi salli chicken, roomali roti, and brun pav. By this point, we were understandably full, but there's always room for dessert. We were presented with an array of Indian sweet treats, including kulfi, saffron falooda, and a rose and khus granita. This dining experience was hard to fault, with an array of decadent yet fresh flavours and bright interpretations of classic regional dishes. Hero dish: The paneer roulade was a fun take on one of my absolute favourites — 9/10 Senses: While feeling truly at ease, it still felt like a magical, flavoursome culinary journey — 8/10 Menu curation: Make sure you go hungry to enjoy the tasting menu! — 8/10 Service: The service was great, truly welcoming — 8/10 The details: 050 194 1107 KT Luxe

Brooklyn Beckham gets back in the kitchen as he hosts Cloud 23 summer party - after renewing his vows with wife Nicola Peltz amid family feud
Brooklyn Beckham returned to the kitchen as he hosted a summer party for his hot sauce brand Cloud 23 in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The son of Victoria and David Beckham, 26, whipped up a spread and lavish cocktails to celebrate with Airbnb Experiences. His 'Hot Summer Tasting Menu' was completed with crab salads and extravagant main courses, finished with an olive oil cake. Brooklyn's dinner comes after he renewed his vows with wife Nicola Peltz amid his ongoing family feud. The couple have been at the centre of a feud with the Beckham family that has pitted Brooklyn and his wife Nicola, 30, against his parents and brothers. However, amid the ongoing drama, the pair proved they are stronger than ever on Saturday as they reaffirmed the promises they made to each other back in 2022. And after the celebrations he was enjoying a wholesome day at home as the aspiring chef made a delicious-looking carbonara. He showed the full process of the recipe as he fried off his bacon, cooked the pasta and made the egg-based sauce. Brooklyn simply penned in the caption of his latest cooking video: 'Spaghetti carbonara xx.' However he was flooded with comments saying that he had burnt the bacon a little. They penned: 'As an Italian.. no. That cheek is burnt.', 'It seems a bit overcooked this guanciale...', 'you already know you burnt the bacon.' Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their wedding vows last weekend, three years after tying the knot. A source close to the couple confirmed the news to Daily Mail, stating: 'This is a moment to celebrate their love and commitment, and to create a meaningful memory together.' Brooklyn and Nicola have been together since October 2019, and announced their engagement in July 2020. Brooklyn's dinner comes after he renewed his vows with wife Nicola Peltz amid his ongoing family feud Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their wedding vows last weekend, three years after tying the knot (seen in 2022) They then tied the knot in a lavish wedding on April 9, 2022, at Nicola's family estate in Florida. Back in June, Brooklyn reflected on the day he proposed as he shared a gushing message to his wife on Instagram. Alongside a snap of himself kissing her cheek, he penned: 'It's been 5 years since I asked this beautiful woman to marry me xx best decision ever x I love you so much ❤️.' David and Victoria failed to wished their son and his wife a happy third wedding anniversary in April - or even 'liked' or commented on the happy couple's post about their milestone. In fact, none of the Beckham family publicly congratulated them, including Romeo and Cruz who Brooklyn is said to have fallen out with. Celebrating three years since they walked down the aisle, the couple posted a throwback photo from their wedding day. Brooklyn captioned the photo: 'Happy 3 year anniversary baby x I love you with all my heart x I'm so lucky I get to spend everyday with you and wake up to your beautiful face everyday you are my world x I love you so much Nicola xxxxxxx.' Meanwhile, Nicola's post - a similar caption to Brooklyn alongside her photos from their wedding day - also failed to prompt any congratulations from her in-laws. The once close-knit Beckham family has been thrown into turmoil in recent months, amid claims Brooklyn has become increasingly estranged from his famous parents after failing to attend any of his father 50th birthday celebrations in May. It was also revealed that Brooklyn and Nicola's Instagram accounts no longer follow his younger brothers in the latest family drama. However, Brooklyn's friends told Daily Mail that Cruz and Romeo have actually blocked them on the social media platform. This would make sense given that Brooklyn and Nicola are still following Victoria and David. David and Victoria have reportedly become resigned to the fact that they have become estranged from their beloved son after he failed to attend any of the football ace's 50th birthday celebrations last month. He also didn't wish either his mum Victoria or dad David a happy birthday on social media - an unusual move for the Beckhams, who are known for their loving posts. This is in stark contrast to a post Brooklyn shared recently for his father-in-law and wrote on a picture of himself and Nicola with the billionaire: 'Happy birthday Nelson x We love you.'

Costa Rica's nine-course meal in the sky
High above Costa Rica's cloud forest, San Lucas Treetop Dining Experience offers a nine-course tasting menu inspired by the country's diverse provinces – combining fine dining with immersive storytelling. It takes a long, winding road and a leap of the imagination to reach the San Lucas Treetop Dining Experience, a fine dining restaurant perched high above the above the misty cloud forest floor in Monteverde; one of Costa Rica's most biodiverse regions. Hidden behind a tall, discrete gate and suspended on elevated platforms, San Lucas feels like a deep forest secret. But as soon as diners cross the tree-shrouded threshold, the mystery is slowly unveiled – signalled first by a large map displaying the country's seven provinces and some of its islands, bearing the message: A tribute to Costa Rica. A narrow wooden footbridge, raised some 10m (33ft) off the ground, leads to eight private glass dining cabins overlooking the canopy. Each is enclosed by floor-to-ceiling windows, offering views of rolling clouds, distant mountains and at the Gulf of Nicoya, from where the restaurant sources much of its seafood San Lucas's sky-scraping design draws inspiration from the hanging bridges and zip lines that made Monteverde a famed ecotourism hub.

From a Chaotic Childhood to the Control of a Michelin-Starred Kitchen
It was hard to tell if Curtis Duffy was about to cry. The Chicago chef who loves both heavy metal and tweezering tiny herbs is not someone you would call effusive. We were on the sidewalk outside the Lincoln Park townhouse that was once home to Charlie Trotter's, the seminal restaurant where Mr. Duffy learned what fine dining meant. He was trying to explain his father, Robert Duffy, who was 18 when his son was born. The elder Duffy was a longhaired Army vet and a tattoo artist who practiced a style of parenting that involved regular applications of a leather strap. His biker buddies nicknamed him Bear. That's also the name of the television series in which Ever, Mr. Duffy's Michelin-starred temple to the tasting menu, appears as the fictionalized greatest restaurant in the world. His intricate dishes, including a magic trick that makes a puff of cotton candy disappear into hibiscus soup, star as the work of the show's chefs. Mr. Duffy is quick to point out that 'The Bear' — which just started its fourth season — is not based on Ever and that he is not Carmy Berzatto, the tortured, talented chef at its center. But the emotional mess at the heart of the show is not far off. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.
